North Star Imaging, Inc. (NSI), based in Rogers, MN is the domestic leading manufacturer of turn-key 2D Digital X-ray and 3D X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) systems for the Industrial Nondestructive Testing industry. NSI has facilities located in Minnesota,
California, Massachusetts, France, UK and China.
North Star Imaging's Engineering Manager is responsible for all mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering functions, management of new product development including: specifications, scheduling, design, prototyping and testing.
Leading research, innovation creation, and new product development.
Managing the product development portfolio to meet commercial and customer requirements in accordance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
Interfacing with other departments within the organization on sales, operational, quality issues, and customers on technical and design issues.
Providing technical support to manufacturing, sales and marketing.
Managing multiple project schedules and communicating project status to stakeholders.
Reviewing project bids for technical, delivery, and cost feasibility.
Establishing and leading quality, delivery, and cost improvement initiatives.
Supporting technical evaluation of customer equipment and complaints.
Coaching and developing engineering team members.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in the execution of the technical aspects of capital equipment development.
Basic competency in understanding of all technical aspect (mechanical, electrical, control, software) of electro-mechanical products.
Formal training and experience in the management of technical projects that include mechanical, electrical, controls, and software or technical documentation development for industrial products.
Strong leadership qualities including initiative, communications, team leadership, training, coaching and mentoring.
Experience with hiring and building a cohesive team in a technical environment as well as developing technical personnel through their career paths, both in management development and technical areas.
Experience with design and development of complex electro-mechanical systems in an industrial product setting.
Ability to analyze, evaluate, and plan methods of approach and organize means to achieve the solution of complex technical problems.
Project management skills for both individual projects as well as team projects to include the ability to plan, organize and conduct technical programs within the financial constraints set for programs.
Able to conceptualize new ideas based on voice-of-customer and marketing requirements and follow through various phases and into production
Analyze, evaluate and plan methods of approach and organize means to achieve the solution of complex technical problems.
Ability to develop detailed estimates of manpower, prototype expenses and general ROIs for proposed programs.
Word processing, spreadsheet, design, e-mail, and utilize project management software
Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical design software, SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred
Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Technology, 10-13 years’ experience or
Master of Science in Engineering, 7-10 years’ experience
10+ yrs. experience in Engineering design
