Based in Rogers, Minnesota, The Metrology Product Innovation Manager (Mechanical Engineer) will oversee NSI metrology products and the development and innovations towards Computed Tomography metrology. The Metrology Product Innovation Manager (Mechanical Engineer) will perform engineering duties for designing innovations for proprietary 3D X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) scan equipment for national and international customers. Work involves research and development, engineering design, evaluation and testing of equipment, and components and related production processes, and interaction with customers. Use advanced principles of dimensional metrology to develop innovative solutions for the use of CT systems for dimensional metrology. Develop procedures and tests to verify the accuracy of CT system for dimensional metrology. Develop CT systems design improvements for accuracy enhancement of CT measurements and assess feasibility for innovation. Serve as technical expert and NSI representative in international meetings to contribute writing the standards (i.e. ISO, ASME, ASTM) for the use of Computed Tomography for dimensional metrology. Attend national and international conferences and symposia to provide technical presentations on: CT Metrology, research studies performed at NSI, and NSI’s innovations on the field. Design and perform research studies to test CT systems. Collaborate with marketing department to promote NSI’s metrology capabilities. Confer with customers and visit customer sites to analyze customer requirements and needs and provide to them technical presentations. Support sales team. Domestic and foreign travel up to 20% as necessary and customary for the role. Position is an individual contributor role with a “manager” title; no supervision responsibilities; no department budget responsibilities.
Position requires Master’s degree, or higher, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering. Qualified candidate must have at least 2 years (24 months) of experience in advanced industrial CT scan for metrology and dimensional metrology, including work with relevant equipment and technologies (including dimensional and geometrical metrology, coordinate measuring machines/CMM, traceability, analysis of measurement uncertainty, surface metrology, tactile and optical profilers). Qualified candidate must also have at least 2 years (24 months) of experience in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering, experience with manufacturing processes including machining processes, injection molding, etc. All experience may be gained through academic research or commercial engineering experience. Position also requires domestic and foreign travel up to 20% as necessary and customary for the role.
